New Wing

About this building

The New Wing is a modern addition to the Grade II* Listed Argent Centre, at the gateway of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter.

The building was built in 2005 and fitted with high security KABA keys. Due to the clientele to be attracted, all unit doors and internal walls are steel lined for extra security.

The ceramic tiled elevation was one of the first buildings to use this facade as designed by our architect, Hugh Byrd.

There is CCTV to cover the common areas and entrance points.

Building history

The New Wing is on the site of a row of former industrial/carpentry units which were located to the rear of the Argent Centre. After the decline in requirements for industrial/carpentry units in the Jewellery Quarter, MIA decided to demolish these unlettable units and redevelop the site to offer 10 units for creative and jewellery industries.
